Uckfield Lions are organising a scarecrow competition and hope people will bring entries to be judged at a Big Fun Day on Sunday, August 15.

There will be two categories in the competition, one for townspeople and another for businesses, with prizes for the first and second entries in each.

People are invited to build scarecrows, and display them at home, or business premises, from this Thursday (July 15) in the run up to the fun day.

There is no specific theme to the competition. The Lions hope you will let your imagination run wild, but they say this could be an opportunity to show appreciation for key workers.

If you would like to take part entry forms for both categories are available from the Lions Bookshop in Olives Yard, or from www.uckfield-lions.org.uk. • The fun day will run from noon until 4pm on Sunday, August 14, and will include arena events, children’s activities, stalls, bouncy castle, car boot sale, and refreshments.
