The Alma Arms in Framfield Road, Uckfield was the venue for Lions Zone 1C meeting on Monday evening. Zone Chair Roger opened the meeting by introducing South East District Governor Steve Carley, South East Lions KSS Air Ambulance Officer Lion Howard Lee and Helene Poussin from KSS Air Ambulance. Lion Roger then went on to explain that three members of Uckfield Lions and their wives, with help from other clubs in the South East had been instrumental in raising over £30,000 over the last 8 years for Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, with last years total being £8690.
Two Uckfield lions members and wives received an International President Certificate and District Governors banner for their work in organizing the Bluebell Walk Lions weekend at Arlington, with Lion David Skinner and his wife Julie coordinating the weekend and Lion Graham Baldwin and Anita for running the catering for the weekend with visitors over the Lions weekend this year being over four thousand people.
Uckfield Lion Chris Sherwood and wife Anna, along with Lions Wendy and John Cattaway received a Certificate of Appreciation and District Governors banner for their continuing support of the event.
South East Lions continue to raise money for the KSS air ambulance providing 88% of funding for vital life saving equipment and the funds from the Bluebell Walk have contributed to this. In the last year KSS have flown 3000 missions and treated 2000 people.
