

Uckfield and District Lions club were delighted to welcome District Governor Steve Carley and his wife Lion Karen and Uckfield Mayor Cllr Karen Bedwell and husband Ian, along with guests from Lions clubs in Southeast to Uckfield Lions 56th Charter Anniversary Lunch held at Wellshurst Golf Club . Uckfield Lions presented their first Charter on 14th February 1969 and continue to support the local community today.
Lions President Frank Phillips welcomed guest and thank them for coming, going on to say that Uckfield Lions continue support Lions International projects, recently donating funds towards the flooding in Spain and money for Ukraine towards the purchase of Log burning stoves. Uckfield Lions continue to support local good causes in and around Uckfield .
District Governor Steve thanked Uckfield Lions for both their work in supporting International causes and the support that Uckfield give to their local community with donations, use of the minibus; he also highlighted the contribution Uckfield Lions have made along with Zone1c to the KSS Air Ambulance with donation from the Bluebell Walk.

DG Steve then went on the present 3-year awards to Lions Marion Wilson and Keith and Carol Grant, and a 25-year award to Lion Graham Baldwin.

Uckfield Mayor Cllr Karen Bedwell ,highlighted the work that Volunteers do around the Uckfield area making the town a better place to live ,she went on to thank Lions for the contribution Uckfield Lions make, with Santa’s Sleigh trips out in the mini bus for the elderly ,contribution to warm hubs across the town ,along with their contributions to the Uckfield youth club, Scout and Guide groups, Santa’s sleigh and Ridgewood village hall.
