The Uckfield Lions Club owns and runs a 14 seater minibus fitted with a wheel chair lift. The new minibus was purchased in 2016 with funds raised in the community and with support from the Government and local organisations to be available for use by the local community as well as by the Lions club for its charitable activities.
The minibus is widely used by many different organisations around the Uckfield area, such as the Ridgewood Village Hall, St Saviours, Uckfield Trefoil group, Local Guides and Scouts groups, Phab club,Wealden / Uckfield bowls club.
This service from the Lions means it is possible for organisations to ensure their members can be transported to meetings and for outings, with their own driver. Lions drivers also provide support for groups shopping trips, outings to local garden centres and countryside and transporting people to and from events.
It is available to hire by organisations, providing their own driver where possible. Drivers are asked to complete a named driver form for acceptance onto the Insurance policy. Uckfield Lions may be able to provide drivers by arrangement.
Uckfield Lions mini bus is only available for use by Community Groups, Private hire is not allowed.
The current standard rates of hire are £1.30 per mile driven, which includes fuel & insurance, with a minimum hire charge of £15. The community minibus is run on a not for profit basis.
