The prostate & diabetes screening session on 14th March at the Uckfield Civic Centre was a great success.
This was run by PCaSO (prostate cancer support organisation), organised & supported by Uckfield Lions.
350 men were screened for prostate cancer of whom 56 were invited to attend their G.P. surgery for further investigation.
A further 24 were recommended for future screening. So many potential cancers may have been caught early.
134 people were screened for diabetes by nurses Debo Kalley & Sara Jaen.
Two people were found to be at serious risk of developing diabetes.
Club president Graham Baldwin said ‘I am proud to be the president of a club that managed to hold such a successful & worthwhile even. Lion David Skinner is the real force behind this day’.
The next PCaSO sessions will be at Tonbridge Angel Centre on 16th May, followed by Chichester Masonic Centre on 6th June.
